What this step produces.
General Company Description #
A brief profile of the company: what it does, its market and its main capabilities. It gives readers the background needed to understand the project.
Problem Statement #
A concise description of the problem to be solved, who suffers from it and what it costs. It keeps the project focused on a real need.
Stakeholder Register #
A table of the people and groups affected by or able to affect the project, with their interests and influence. It is first drafted for the background and later used to plan engagement.
Assumptions, Constraints & Exclusions #
A list of what is taken as true, what limits the project and what is deliberately left out. It stops hidden expectations from turning into surprises later.
